AU Hosts the Southern Africa 2018 Central Conference Workshop

On the 10th of April 2018, Africa University hosted the Southern Africa 2018 Central Conference Workshop that brought together delegates from 6 African countries and the USA. The high level talks related to strengthening the work of the United Methodist Church in the Southern Africa region and ensuring the dissemination and implementation of key resolutions reached at the 2016 United Methodist General Conference.
Africa University Vice Chancellor Professor Munashe Furusa welcomed the workshop participants warmly and invited them to enjoy the rich diversity of the AU campus. He also took time to express the gratitude of the university community for the strong relationship that has been forged between AU and the United Methodist Church that has led to strategic partnerships that have grown the campus through investment in key infrastructure, student welfare and staff development.
Prof. Furusa said in his welcome remarks,
“The church has maintained its support for the University leading to its unparalleled growth. Support like this allows us to dream bigger and walk in the conviction of our faith filled vision and mission.” He went on to add, “Africa University is positioning itself to become a hub of Theological Education within the region and Africa through the Institute of Theology.”
Through the support given to the University from the UMC, Africa University’s reach and impact continues to weave a legacy for all Africans of peace, tolerance for diversity and the importance of investing in the continents’ most powerful asset, her people and their future.
