Dr Rosemary Maturure

Appointment of University Librarian

She is a holder of a PhD in Library and Information Studies from University of Botswana (2018), MSc in Library and Information Science from National University of Science and Technology, Zimbabwe (2008) and a BSc Honours in Library and Information Science (2006) from the same university.




She is also a holder of a National Diploma in Library and Information Science (2001) and National Certificate in Library and Information Science (1997) from Bulawayo Poly Technical College. Dr Rosemary Maturure has 22 years of experience working as Librarian; she has worked in School libraries and academic libraries since 1996


Prior to her new appointment at Africa University, Dr Maturure served for 11 years as University Librarian at Solusi University. Besides her role as Librarian, she has also been a part time Lecturer at the Bulawayo Poly Technical College. She also worked as an intern with the British Council Library which has supported professional development and cultural exchange across Africa. Dr Maturure has work experience in the Schools library system having worked for Bulawayo Adventist High School.


Dr Maturure brings a wealth of experience having assisted Solusi University with computerising the library using KOHA System which we are migrating to as a University. She also was part of the technology implementation projects for the library including the setting up of the institutional repository. Dr Maturure has participated in the accreditation of libraries in India (2013) and Zambia (2015). She is familiar with the Library Management Systems in Zimbabwe as she is a member of the Zimbabwe Universities Library’s Consortium (ZULC) and Zimbabwe library Association (ZIMLA).


Dr Maturure is also an avid researcher and currently has 7 publications to her credit in areas which include records management, inclusivity of access to library services using technology and best practice in access to library resources. She has also presented at conferences and workshops on the Library Management. Dr Maturure enjoys netball, reading and travelling.
