Africa University, a Pan African and United Methodist Church Related Institution in Zimbabwe, invites applications from suitably qualified and well experienced persons to fill the following strategic positions:

Reporting to the Dean, the main duties and responsibilities of Lecturer in Animal Science will be that of teaching, conducting solution-oriented research that will lead to transformative policy changes and innovation in the field of Animal Science in line with Education 5.0.


  • The applicant should hold a relevant doctoral degree from a recognized university with a BSc and Masters degree in Agriculture specializing in any Area of Animal Science
  • At least three years’ experience in teaching, research and/or industry with evidence of publications in peer -reviewed journals
  • He/she should have the ability to establish and develop research independently.
  • The applicant should be a proactive learner, who is professional with teamwork skills and has academic potential.


Key Perfomance Areas:

  • Active engagement in high-quality research, implement new developments in the academic discipline set up the original theoretical and practical researches or key technologies in animal science, enhance his/her own international academic influence and to become an internationally active academic member
  • Liaise with industry and other stakeholders regarding curricula, excursions, research and community empowerment projects
  • Participate in Departmental, College and University wide activities
  • Participate in Departmental, College and University wide activities
  • The presentation of lecture, tutorial and practical, on and off campus
  • Curriculum development Engagement in community projects
  • Capacity and willingness to develop viable animal production enterprises that form the basis for student entrepreneurial projects.
  • Knowledge and skills in value added products from animal production enterprises.
  • Practical skills and willingness to engage in animal feed production, processing and utilization in student and farmer empowerment to engage in animal production-based agribusiness. Engagement in community projects
  • Advise Africa University Farm on Livestock-related issues
  • Developing innovative solutions to address challenges in the livestock sector
