Department of Private Law

Private Law is focused on the legal interests of individuals in society. Private law deals with and regulates relationships between individuals as they interact with different relevant sectors. The Department of Private Law comprise of compulsory and elective modules. The Private Law curriculum covers a broad range of courses, including the law of property, the law of contract, the law of succession, family law, customary law and the law of delict. The jurisprudential and historical context of these private law fields is also traced and covered in this branch of law.
