AU wins big at the Manicaland Region Megafest Awards 2017/18

Africa University won big at the recently held Megafest Awards, Manicaland Region 2017/18 held under the theme, “Disruptive Business thinking “at the Holiday Inn in Mutare on the 28th of February 2018. The Institution claimedCEO of the Year- Vice Chancellor Professor Munashe Furusa, Female Manager of the Year – Professor Pamela Machakanja and Outstanding Training Institution of the Year.
Guest of Honor and Key Note speaker Honorable Minister of State for Manicaland Province, Monica Mustvangwa, praised the Manicaland region for the good pace that it has already set for the rest of the country and challenged the region to continue to contribute towards economic development and empowerment of its people. She said,
“Manicaland is in the right place for the economic development of the country. It is now time for us business people to leave a good legacy.”
Vice Chancellor Professor Munashe Furusa won the award for CEO of the year for his steadfast and dynamic vision that has seen AU become a force to be reckoned with in the fields of innovation, Malaria research and Intellectual Property Rights within Zimbabwe and on the continent.
Two of the university’s alumni, Messers Clemence Masango who is the Principal Director of Immigration in Zimbabwe and Kangai Maukazuva who is the Technology, Media, Digital and Telecoms Executive at Alphamedia Holdings each won Special Recognition in Leadership Orderliness and Special Recognition in Leadership Management awards respectively attesting to the caliber of graduates that AU produces who stand out and are celebrated in industry.
