Upon completion of the Bachelor of Laws, graduates will have the following .
  • Display professional ethics and values befitting of a legal practitioner;
  • Give appropriate and professional legal advice as well as conduct civil and criminal trials as defense or state counsel and/or judicial officer presiding over cases;
  • Manage a law firm, court station or trust company or NGO;
  • Draft and interpret legal documents in the area of substantive and procedural law for national and international development.
  • Conduct legal research;
  • Register companies, title, notarial deeds and patents and trade-marks;
  • Engage with the law to protect, promote and fulfill the human rights of vulnerable persons that include but are not limited to the indigent, women, children, persons with disability, IDPs, Refugees, the terminally ill etc.

Normal Entry
To qualify for normal entry into the LLB Degree programme, a candidate must fulfil the requirements stipulated in the General Regulations of the University and the following:

  • At least three good GCE Advanced Level passes or equivalent (competitive qualifications are an added advantage);
  • At least 5 Ordinary Level passes at Grade “C” or better including English Language with at least a Grade “B” or equivalent.
  • Students coming from outside Zimbabwe should have the equivalent qualifications in addition to being proficient in the English language.
  • In addition, students from outside Zimbabwe who are found by the Faculty to be not proficient in the English language shall undergo an Intensive English programme offered by Africa University before commencing the degree programme. In this latter case the candidates shall pass the Intensive English programme with a minimum of a ‘B’ pass grade to qualify for the programme.

Special Entry:

In addition to satisfying the General University requirements, a candidate must:

  • A candidate must hold a relevant qualification with substantial legal content at Diploma level and must have five “O” level subjects including English Language.
  • Special entry may also be granted to a candidate who holds a good first degree from
    another discipline.
  • In appropriate cases, special entry candidates may be granted exemptions to enable such candidates to complete the degree in eight semesters.
