1. CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Reporting to the Vice Chancellor (President), the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) is the Head of Department responsible for providing financial leadership, direction and management of the finance team in a highly volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environment. The CFO is expected to optimize the financial performance of the institution by managing and reporting liquidity and return on investment.

DESIRED ATTRIBUTES

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent;
  • An Accounting Professional Qualification such as ACCA, CIMA or equivalent;
  • Should be registered with a Professional Accountancy Association;

2. FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION ASSISTANT, CRC

Reporting to the Finance and Admin Manager of the Clinical Research Centre (CRC), the main purpose of the job is to provide financial accounting support to the CRC on its various externally funded awards.

3. DISTRICT ENTOMOLOGY ASSISTANTS X 6

Reporting to the District entomology coordinator. Africa University is seeking a self-motivated cadre for the position of district entomology Assistant for Nyanga (3) and Mutasa (3) districts and to be based in one of the districts. The entomology Assistants will be responsible for entomological fieldwork including PSCs, CDC light collections (in/out), larval collections and CDC human baited proxy. The applicant should be able to follow entomology SOPs and ensure proper and timely data recording and entry and supporting implementation of entomological activities in the two districts.

  • 5 “O” levels including English Language
  • Able to ride a motorbike (driver’s licence)

4. DISTRICT ENTOMOLOGY COORDINATOR

Reporting to the Insectary Manager. Africa University is seeking a self-motivated person for the position of district entomology coordinator for Nyanga and Mutasa districts and to be based in one of the districts. The entomology coordinator will be responsible, among other things, to perform entomological field collection techniques such as PSCs, CDC light collections (in/out), larval collections and CDC human baited proxy. The cadres should be able to follow entomology SOPs and ensure proper and timely data recording and entry. To support implementation of entomological activities. Assist with procurement request for field entomological activities and monthly field reports. Mobile on a motorbike and to coordinate entomological field activities in both districts and represent ZENTO at district level.

DESIRED ATTRIBUTES

  • Diploma in Environmental Health
  • BSc degree in biological science/environmental health or a related discipline will be an added advantage
  • At least 5 years of experience in medical entomology with special emphasis in malaria vector collection and preservation
  • Able to ride a motorbike and drive (driver’s licence)
  • Experience in planning entomological activities and managing malaria surveys
  • Experience in developing and refining entomological data collection tools
  • Two years of related experience working on IRS malaria programme with MoHCC
  • Strong leadership, networking and interpersonal skills

5.VECTOR SURVEILLANCE PROGRAM SCIENTIST

The Vector Surveillance Programme Scientist reports to the Laboratory Manager and is recruited to support Africa University ZENTO on running of molecular assays for mosquitoes received from the field and research activities by executing the tasks listed below.

6. MONITORING & EVALUATION AND DATABASE OFFICER

Reporting to the Director, CHANS-Research Services Support Unit, (RSSU). Africa University is seeking a self-motivated person for the position of M & E officer. The M & E will be responsible, among other things, for assisting in planning project activities, maintaining and updating the project schedules, monitoring and tracking progress. The M & E Officer will work closely with the Director, and ZENTO line managers.

DESIRED ATTRIBUTES

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Monitoring and Evaluation or equivalent
  • Master’s degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, or Statistics an added advantage
  • Knowledge of the major evaluation methodologies (e.g. qualitative, quantitative, mixed-method, and impact) and data collection and analysis methodologies
  • Experience in planning and managing surveys
  • Experience in developing and refining data collection tools
  • Experience in data quality assessments and oversight
  • At least 2 years related experience working on PMI or malaria projects
  • Strong leadership, networking and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication, report writing and analytical skills
  • Ability to work as a team and respect for cultural diversity
